Arterburn, Wheelchair Gum Salesman, Dies A man known to many Louisvillians for his cheerfulness and self-reliance despite physical handicaps died yesterday. Theadore T. Arterburn, 44, who was badly crippled by polio as a child, died at 5:10 a.m. at SS. Mary Elizabeth Hospital.
lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry, Arterburnis at 3525 Woodruff year, he went every day to Preston and Eastern Parkway, where he sold chewing gum from his wheelchair. He made weekly visits to the front of downtown theaters and to the corner of Third and Central. With the use of crutches, he could board buses and take his collapsible chair with him.
Besides his parents, Arterburn is survived by two brothers and a sister. The body is at Arch L. Heady Southern Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mother of Judge, Mrs. Sternberg, Dies Mrs. Christina Sternberg, the mother of Jefferson County Circuit Judge Marvin J. Sternberg, died at 2:45 p.m.
yesterday at the Heritage House nursing home, 3535 Bardstown Road. Mrs. Sternberg, 88, of 2200 Alpine Way, was a member of Fenner Memorial Lutheran Church. She was the former Christina Jegen. Other survivors include a son, Julius W.
